Flanders in EU 2020

This book traces the development of Flemish policy within the EU development strategies created over the last decade. It examines the 'Flanders in Action' programme established in 2006 designed to establish Flanders as the gateway to Europe, and how this fits in with the Lisbon Strategy and EU 2020, beginning in 2011. Featuring commentary from Flemish stakeholders and a thorough review of the challenges facing Flanders and how these can be tackled both by EU and Flemish initiatives, Flanders in EU 2020 is the authoritative reference work on modern Flemish policy. Jose Manuel Barroso served as Prime Minister of Portugal from 2002 to 2004, and is now President of the European Commission. He holds a Degree in Law from the University of Lisbon and a Master's Degree in Economic and Social Sciences from the University of Geneva alongside several honorary Degrees.
