In 2015, the same year that Nottingham was crowned England's first City of Football, Nottingham Forest Football Club celebrated its 150th anniversary. Inspired by Italian freedom fighter Garibaldi's redshirts, the young founders of the Forest Football Club, who played on the Forest recreation ground near the centre of Nottingham, decided that Garibaldi red would be their colour and so it has remained ever since.
