Kate is planning to leave her boyfriend Michael, whose unpredictable and furious temper has finally got too much for her - just as it has for the corrupt MPs and agro-businessmen that he makes it his job to expose. The very night she plucks up the courage to tell him, one of the fat cats Michael has been hunting turns on him. Waking in the middle of the night, Kate goes downstairs to find Michael hissing his last breath and clasping the six-inch bread knife in his stomach. He dies in her lap.
The killers are professionals and before Kate knows what's happening she's the murder suspect, and her overwhelming instinct is to run. So begins her breakneck flight, first from the police, then from those who think she knows too much. Finally, Kate realises that the only way to escape for good is to turn the tables. What had Michael uncovered? Who ordered his murder? And what is so secret about fertiliser X92?
