This book examines feelings - why we feel the way we do and how the way we feel about ourselves affects our lives. Terry and Barbara Tebo teach that many of our beliefs, especially about our feelings, are limiting and stopping us from reaching our full potential.
Many of our feelings and beliefs are gained in childhood. As at this time we are dependent on others were learn to suppress the feelings that are unacceptable and show only that side which will gain us approval. The authors believe that this teaches us that our happiness and self-worth depend on others, rather than being of our own making. We learn to deny the "bad" feelings (anger, jealousy, guilt, sadness) and so never learn how to experience and express these feelings and therefore free ourselves from them. They remain buried within us, and in the effort to cut ourselves off from these emotions, we cut ourselves off from many positive feelings and also, very importantly, from our true selves.
'Free To Be Me' shows how you can let go of feelings and beliefs that are self-defeating and learn to accept all of yourself. Instead of expecting other people and external situations to provide you with a sense of well being, you will be able to do this yourself and change those feelings that may be limiting you and encourage feelings of love, joy and well-being.
