Gabriel Gate is one of Australia's best-known chefs. Born in Anjou in the west of France, he trained as a chef in the French countryside before working at top restaurants in Paris and later London.
Gabriel met his Australian wife Angie when she was studying at the Sorbonne in Paris. They settled in Australia in the late 1970s and Gate began teaching cooking, and catering for private functions. Since then he has established himself as a leading influence on the way Australian families cook today.
He has presented a daily television programme on cooking, and is a regular contributor to magazines and books. Gate is also the author of fourteen bestselling cookbooks, several of which present a nutritious and simple approach to cooking for the average busy Australian family today.
