When 15-year-old Nathaniel and his mother move to Cheshunt, he immediately senses something wrong with the suburb. He loathes the cold wind that penetrates glass, and the oppressive stench from the abattoir that overlooks it. As he finds out more about the suburb's dark past, Nathaniel knows he's not imagining things. Soon Nathanial learns that his presence is no accident. As the dark call its own, the light draw its champions, and Nathanial finds he must confront phantoms from his own past in his battle to stop the Gathering and its creator.
