New York bookstore manager Ralph Eckhart - politically to the left and sexually bipartisan - is swept into an affair with Washington-based Bill O'Connor, a closeted, scandalmongering, right-wing spokesman for the Christian Coalition. Bill also happens to be young, virile, handsome, and the author of a scathing tell-all book that attacks several Washington women.
