For as long as Marlo Thomas can remember, she's lived with comedy. She was born to a famous, funny father and a less celebrated--but no less funny--mother. She grew up among legendary comics, carved much of her career in comedy, and, to this day, she surrounds herself with people who love and live to make others laugh. For most people, the laughter starts at home, with a funny uncle or brother or cousin. For Thomas, it was everybody. And even though it felt like a normal childhood, it wasn't until she was older that she realized that most kids didn't grow up in the audience of the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, sitting ringside and marveling as their father wowed a crowd.
Milton Berle performed magic at her backyard birthday parties (badly). George Burns and Bob Hope were regular guests at the Thomas' dinner table. And Sid Caesar, Jan Murray, Joey Bishop, and Bob Newhart would sit around their coffee table, telling stories and jokes.
