Kosciusko, long a winter playground for skiers, is also a summer challenge for bushwalkers. Previously accessible only to the experienced, today much of the area can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages, thanks to the network of walking tracks developed and maintained by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. This book describes those tracks in detail and illustrates them with photographs and numerous maps, including a map of the Alpine Way road system.
One of the wonders of Kosciusko in summer is the diversity of its plant life. The last section of the book is devoted to a photographic record of the flowers of the region, while the descriptions of the walking tracks include detailed information on the plants to be seen along the way.
