Barrett Pike is an ex-cop turned PI. Over the years, he's unearthed the low-life scum that inhabits Sydney's underworld. Somewhere between 50 and dead, Barrett is old and looking it, and it's time he enjoyed more of the good things in life: sex, semillon and seafood.
Well, it's not going to happen in 2000. He becomes entangled with Mai Ling King and her drug-pushing boyfriend, Anthony Diaz - a thug that Barrett knows only too well. He is then offered the position of bodyguard to the world's fastest runner, Titus Delfranco, during the Sydney Olympics. This should be an easy enough task, but this elite athlete has a million-dollar tag on his head and a take-no-prisoners gunman has been sent by the US sect, Seed of God, to make sure Titus is in a wooden casket and not on the starting blocks at Homebush.
