Philip Sherwood's new book compares past and present scenes in an area that is now dominated by Heathrow Airport. Heathrow itself has disappeared as a village, but there are still vestiges of a village atmosphere to be found elsewhere - even though this corner of the south-east has probably seen more changes in the last sixty years than anywhere else in Britain. Heathrow Through Time, written by the district's premier local historian, will be of interest to anyone who lives in this part of west Middlesex, whether long-time resident or recent arrival.
