The novel is based in Thailand, but could be set anywhere in the world, as women are being abducted and held against their will, for various reasons, every day. Abductions are perpetuated by organised crime rings, corrupt police and government officials.
The story follows four girls and their totally different responses when held in the same stressful situation. How they interact with each other and their captors, and how they each deal with the horror of their circumstances, will determine their chances of survival. It highlights the dangers of travelling, alone or otherwise, and shows how easy it is to misinterpret or lose control of a situation.
