On the Hoof from Canterbury to Santiago de Compestela.
The quirky story of two sisters' horseback pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Mefo Phillips and her sister Susie saddle up their loveable yet frisky Appaloosa horses in preparation for a journey that will test their patience, stamina, and the digestive systems of their charges. The journey is to be life-changing, at times hilarious, and always challenging. Beginning their journey at Canterbury the sisters head across the channel and into France and Spain, following the old pilgrim trail of the Way of St James. With the author's non-horsey, golf-loving husband in tow, they're on course for an eventful 1700 miles in the saddle. Faced with rogue donkeys, herds of galloping goats, amorous Frenchmen, and curious lunches, their ride is never without incident. Travelling through a landscape of stunning and rugged beauty, Mefo and Susie discover both unbelievable generosity and bizarre interiors. Most testing of all is their traversing of the Pyrenees, where they contend with vertigo, strangely attired Germans, dodgy maps, and a distinct lack of golf.
