Patrick Callahan IV is known to his fellow firefighters as "Psycho" for a reason. He's a wild one, short-cropped brown hair, vivid blue eyes, EXTREMELY fit, lots of tattoos. Psycho takes time off from his duties in San Gabriel to volunteer as a heli-rappeller during a massive wildfire threatening his hometown of Loveless, Nevada. He's on the outs with his family -- they kicked him out after an accident involving his brother. At the fire, he runs into Lara, who was his brother's best friend in high school and who is also volunteering at the wildfire (as a doctor.) She grew up a misfit; her aunt raised her on a sort of hippie New Age sex therapy commune. She fled Loveless as soon as she could. Now almost finished with her medical studies, she's back because her aunt has died and left her the "Haven for Sexual Healing."
But as they both learn, you can't run from yourself or your past. Both have to deal with what they left behind if they want to move forward. Patrick, who's spent his whole life rebelling, takes more time off from San Gabriel to clear the brush from his family's land and track down the brother he hasn't seen in ten years. Lara has to figure out what the heck to do with the "family" she's been embarrassed by her whole life. With the sparks flying between Patrick and Lara, who knows what will go up in flames first -- them, or the town of Loveless!
