Second Edition
'Hymns for Today's Church' began on 23 May 1973 at a meeting in London. The small group aimed to produce "the first major new hymn book of the new era". In this second edition the same numbering scheme and text have been retained. This edition includes six more traditional texts to supplement previous revisions and three further important hymns in revised format. We have also added ten canticle versions to complement those previously included and so match the full range of canticles in the 'Alternative Service Book' 1980.
This second edition of 'Hymns for Today's Church' is entirely compatible with the new Melody Edition, and with the new Words Edition.
