Carsten Jensen, a young Danish writer, embarks on an epic journey to those places where East meets West, encompassing Russia and China, Cambodia and Vietnam, and culminating on the fascinating island nation of Hong Kong. Jensen's travels are enriched, and hence his resulting narrative enlightened, by the company of local people, who allow him access to private households, lives and points of view to which the vast majority of foreign travellers remain ignorant.
