RM Williams recalls some of the memorable characters he encountered during his lean years travelling the country with a swag.
R.M.Williams is a legendary Australian figure. At just fourteen he left home to go bush, starting out as a lime burner and camel boy. During the Depression he took to the road with swag, working as stockman, tea-planter, miner, well-sinker, cattle trader and drover. In 1933 he sold a hand-made packsaddle to Sir Sidney Kidman and since that time the R.M. Williams label - know for riding boots, moleskins and oilskins - has become a hallmark of quality for bush dress.
