From The Nature Conservancy.
The Nature Conservancy, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has designated 200 conservation projects throughout the US, South America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific Rim as Last Great Places. They asked a dozen distinguished contemporary photographs to respond to a site with which he or she felt a special affinity. The result is this book
This beautifully produced volume features original, unpublished images by some of today's leading photographers. Images for the book and an accompanying exhibition were selected by noted photography critic and curator Andy Grundberg, who also provides the introduction to the book.
Each photographer has written a text to accompany his or her work, and additional commentary by The Nature Conservancy outlines the ecological concerns at each site. A stirring foreword by acclaimed writer and naturalist Terry Tempest Williams opens the book.
