"This city is one of the most special cities in the world. Joy floats through its streets, and it has a very special nature." Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart y Silva, Duchess of Alba de Tormes Since its earliest days Seville has been revered for its rare beauty and a special spirit embodied by its exceptionally friendly inhabitants. Spellbinding, romantic, rich in history, and steeped in culture, are some of the many ways to describe the city of Seville. Natives and visitors alike can explore this romantic city through its diverse neighbourhoods including the Arenal, the city centre; the Jewish Quarter; and the main tourist area, the Santa Cruz; and stumble upon landmarks and treasures such as the Alcazar of Seville, the oldest active royal palace, and the magnificent Seville Cathedral. Seville's beauty and magic have also served as inspiration for many artists, writers, and composers. Including a foreword by the Duchess of Alba de Tormes, one of Seville's most beloved figures, this in-depth volume transports readers with gorgeous illustrations exploring the city's most extraordinary sights, sounds, tastes, and traditions, from the opulent architecture to the sensual rhythms and movements of flamenco.
