New Commentaries for the Year of Mark, Year B
The readings are those set in the Revised Common Lectionary for Year B, the Year of Mark. The Gospel portions are very similar to those found in the Three Year Lectionary already in use in many churches. Where widely different readings are given, the author has provided comments on both passages or referred to another Sunday. The lectionary aims to read through the Gospel according to Mark, with passages from John's Gospel. During Advent and Lent, passages are chosen to suit the theme of the day. These lectionaries do not cover all of Mark, but do include the parts that are distinctive to this Gospel. The name for each Sunday also follows the Revised Common Lectionary, with other well-known names given in parentheses.
