Untitled
Chris McCandless walked in Alaskan wilderness and was found four months later, dead. Krakauer explores what lead to McCandless to make this drastic change, as well as exploring why others (including past of his misspent youth) seek out the challenge of the wild and the solitude it brings. A harrowing examination of the human condition in it's many forms, this boook is a must read for any and all! - Lewis (QBD)

Untitled
Inspiring and terrifying. There are a lot of mixed reviews on this book but I absolutely loved it. In April 1992, the young man from a well off family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness after burning, donating and leaving behind most of his possessions. Four months later his decomposed body was found by a party of moose hunters. The author does an incredible job at giving insight into the complex person that Chris McCandless was through various interviews, journal entries and letters. This is the kind of story that turns your stomach to knots and leaves a lump in your throat after every chapter. Chris's way of looking at the world was refreshing and so inspiring. He was smart, critical and so passionate about life and nature. Read this book. It's one that I'll always hold dearly. - Georgia (QBD)

Into the Wild
Would you withdraw all your savings, pack a bag, say goodbye to your family, leave behind the life you have always known and head out into the wilderness? Chris McCandless did. In 1992 he headed out by himself into the wild in Alaska. Just five months later his body and his last written words were found in an abandoned bus. In this amazing book Jon Krakauer attempts to unearth the reason McCandless did what he did. Reviewed by 01jl.
