After stepping into the Villa San Luca Ospedaletti (Imperia), even the most distracted of visitors cannot but be fascinated and dazzled by the enormous quantity of objects and works of art scattered along the labyrinthine passage through the home: more than six thousand pieces of decorative art gathered over more than half a century by Luigi Anton Laura (1922-2007) and his wife Nera. The Laura couple have donated their home and immense collection of antique objects to FAI - Fondo per l Ambiente Italiano, in a generous and farsighted gesture, for the public enjoyment of all. This book on the Laura Collection is devoted to the collection of Islamic ceramics, fifty-eight pieces of rare beauty and technical skill that thoroughly exemplify the main expressive achievements of Middle-Eastern potters between the tenth and fifteenth centuries. Text in English tItalian. AUTHOR Manuele Scagliola studied the History of Art at Stockholm University. He has written articles on 15th and 16th century Ligurian art and is cataloguing the Laura Collection. ILLUSTRATIONS 160 colour illustrations
