Jade Wentworth is now single, destitute and about to lose her home, all because Morgan Frazier decided to ruin her father over a game of cards. Jade's father is now in debtor's prison and is in poor health. All she wants to do is get enough money to get her father out of prison and take him away to the colonies. Her life as a pampered society Miss is over and she is now learning to face life's harsh realities.
She devises a plan with her two cousins to kidnap Morgan and hold him for ransom. They are successful but Morgan's panic at being enclosed endears him to Jade and she starts to see him as more than a heartless villain. Jade still resents Morgan for his involvement in ruining her family, she could never love such a cold unfeeling man. Morgna also has some issues with his past, he has been burned twice by women he'd come close to falling in love with, only to learn they were after his money. Can these two see through their differences and find love?
