John Bryson studied law at the University of Melbourne and later joined the Victorian Bar and specialized in jury trials. His fiction is published in literary magazines and in periodicals, his feature articles in leading Australian newspapers. He has been a member of the Australia Council and a secretary of the Australian Performing Group (APG). While working on Evil Angels (1985) his book about the Lindy Chamberlain case, he was occupied day and night for four years, while the case was running. Evil Angels won several literary prizes and was filmed by Fred Schepisi in 1988. John is now a partner in John Timlin's agency.He is also the author of a 1981 collection of short fiction, Whoring Around and a collection of reportage, Backstage at the Revolution. His novel of the Spanish Civil War, To the Death, Amic was published by Viking in 1994, and as Hasta la Muerte, Amigo by Editorial Milenio Spain in 2006. In 2004 he originated and co-produced Secrets of the Juryroom, a documentary for SBS-TV.
