Josie Smith is the irrepressible little girl who's jealous of her best friend, Eileen (who always gets whatever she wants). She's also the one who gets into trouble all the time, but generally seems to come up smelling of roses!
Josie is quite happy going to hospital to have her tonsils out, but she has to be very brave at playing hospitals in the big, creepy house. And at her first ballet lesson she has to try hard not to cry, even when her chest is going bam, bam, bam.
