Growing up in small town Appalachia, Mercy has learned to keep secrets. Secrets about her grandmother's midnight rituals, secrets about her best friend's sexual escapades, and, most importantly, secrets about her mother's murder. When Mercy falls in love with a mysterious migrant worker, she believes the secrets are at an end. However, you can never really escape the past. Before long, Mercy will find herself fighting not only for her own life, but for the life of her lover and of the child growing inside her.
