Plenty of 'alternative facts' about Sweden have been shared recently, most notably when, in February, President Trump mysteriously referred to 'what happened last night in Sweden' in a sinister tone. Many of the opinions being shared about Sweden are fueled by ignorance, and come from people who have never even been to the country. But now, Sweden's photojournalists want to set the record straight-the joys and challenges of everyday life are now in focus when more than fifty award-winning press photographers capture the Sweden that never makes it for the headlines. Tens of thousands of pictures were taken and the very best were selected by a jury and are now presented in the photo book Last Night in Sweden. It's an unusual photo book that paints a rich and nuanced picture of a people who believe greatness is achieved through equality, democracy, free education and free health care. The first copy of the book was sent to President Trump to show him what really happened in Sweden last night.
