Lian was born in Tasmania. She studied Earth Sciences at university and, aged 38, she started at Drama school and subsequently worked as a professional actor touring around Tasmania for 3 years. She says she gets her best ideas walking on the beach and recently worked out that she has probably read about 10 thousand books in her life and yet still loves reading.
