Beginner - Advanced Level Users.
Includes 2 CD-ROMs.
This book shows the hard-core technical information needed for networking, printing and running day to day operations in Linux. The book contains two chapters featuring material seen in no other administration guide to this date: how to perform some basic administrative tasks through the GUI.
One chapter will show the administrator how the graphics-based application called Linuxconf can help administer networks, systems and users. The second chapter will focus on the other 'Control Panel' aspects of the desktop, which make certain tasks, such as adding printers, very easy for the inexperienced administrator.
The CD-ROM includes the latest release of Red Hat Linux, designed to get the user's Linux machine up and running the same day the book is purchased.
The second CD-ROM will contain additional administrative programs such as the security program Tripwire and the administration utilities Diskcheck and Logwatch. These applications allow the beginning administrator to monitor the system for illegal logins, filled partitions or specific warning messages in the log files.
