The book is in two parts, the first is Lola's life story (about 15,000 words) and the second part is a plant list with full colour photographs of each plant -- there are 72 plants and about 160 high-quality, colour photographs. This book developed from a draft publication of plants and their uses compiled by Anna Vitenbergs and Lola for the Wakuthuni Community in the Pilbara. Lola and Anna met at Lola's home in Tom Price over a period of eighteen months to check and expand the plant list and Lola's story was recorded. The oral history tells of Lola's life and the writing is delightful -- the reader gains direct access to Lola's strength of character, commitment and wicked sense of humour.
The book includes a CD of Lola's songs (passed on to Lola from her ancestors) in the back cover, recorded by Gumala, an Aboriginal recording studio in Tom Price.
