The book looks at the trains, infrastructure and operating systems that make up this famous and extensive transport network that is the envy of the world. The book takes the reader on a journey through time from the Victorian steam era, through to the system of today with its new S Stock and futuristic project for driverless trains, which are planned to enter service within the next decade. The book contains many old and often rare pictures and maps of the system at various periods of its development, which will fascinate and intrigue the reader.
