Lord Langley is Back in Town

After years on the Continent as a diplomat and a spy, Lord Langley has returned to London determined to resume his life. But to his dismay, his previous paramours have followed him back and now he's being chased by four all-too determined ladies who want to rekindle the past. By accident he is found in a compromising position with the sensible widow Lady Standon, and in a moment of inspiration, declares they are very much in love and engaged, if only to get rid of his former flames.

But the ladies are unconvinced and Lady Standon, with her reputation in tatters, can do nothing but continue the charade in order to try and regain her place in society. And while Lady Standon and Lord Langley have no intention of falling in love, they discover a passion unlike anything they've ever known.
