Raoul Wallenberg became a legend, appearing in the nick of time to snatch life from death all over Budapest. His courage, inventiveness and sheer charisma saved thousands of Jews from the gas chambers of Auschwitz. He was only one man, yet his actions saved the Jews of Hungary from extinction.
But after the war, he disappeared into the Gulag, feared as a spy in the paranoid years of the Cold War. Taken into custody without reason or charge by the Soviet Government, Raoul Wallenberg has never received the freedom he gave others. His family has had no word of him since 1945. If alive, he would now be almost ninety years old.
