In less than a week Hannah will open the doors to Cupcakes on the Corner, her very own shop. Life couldn't be better until, out of the blue, her live-in boyfriend Patrick announces that he's leaving her for another woman, who's pregnant with his baby. As Hannah licks her wounds, best friend Mel moves in to help with the rent. They've been bosom buddies for years, so it stands to reason that they'd get on well living together, right? Mel, for his part, is only too happy to pass on his own flat to his twin sister Nora, who has just moved home from America after a second divorce. And where Nora goes, chaos soon follows,. . . And then there's Alice, who works with Hannah's mother. Her husband Tom's drinking is getting out of control and things are about to take a turn for the worse . . .
