In the UK women earn 18% less than men for working full time and a shocking 40% less for working part time. Less than 20% of women own shares or investment funds while only 7% have a personal pension of their own. Shocking isn't it?
The feminist movement of the last 30 years has made women the equals of men in pretty much every area. However when it comes to money there is clearly a long way to go. The bad news is that to a large degree this is our fault. We have just as many opportunities as men to sort out our pension arrangements, we just don't do it. And the main reason we get paid less than men is because we never ask to be paid more. The good news is that we can change all this with very little effort.
Dealing with money is much much simpler than the financial services industry would like us to think it is. 'Love is Not Enough' explains just how simple. One read through and a few hours work and you should be able to sort your finances out for good, something that will turn your finances from a source of endless worry to a source of peace of mind.
