Amy Stokes is a 39-year-old successful businesswoman, with a close group of friends and no desire to change her life. Yet even having her own business, 'Precious Little Darlings', a store that stocks designer baby goods, has not caused Amy's maternal instincts to kick in. It takes the death of her beloved dog Germaine, and the wholly unexpected arrival of a baby on her doorstep, to force Amy to re-address her priorities.
