Matilda is off on a new set of advetnures when she eats one of the olives her grandfather has brought back for her from his visit to Greece. She discovers that each time she eats an olive she goes back in time: to watch Cathy Freeman win at the 2000 Olympic Games; to make friends with girls in Ancient Greece; to visit the first Queen Elizabeth; to sail on the Endeavour with Captian Cook; to visit the sick with Florence Nightingale and to fly across the Pacific Ocean with Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith in his famous plane, the Southern Cross.
