Author, Robert Dos Remedios, trains athletes. Not only is he a trainer to athletes, but a trainer and athlete interested in power, strength and the effectiveness of the workout in the gym and on the field. Remedios provides excellent information on what strength and power actually are, as well as principles he deems as the path to more athletic training. Remedios is interested in integrated, compound movements, with an atention to explosiveness and carry-over to the real world or sporting field. There are many workout programs given, as well as ways to customise them for time or skill level. This training is for improving athletic performance, and building power. Still worried about aesthetics? As mentioned in the book, bodybuilders are fine but they are "...athletic mannequins". Few people find an athletic body undesirable aesthetically, and even fewer would shy away from athleticism, power, endurance, strength, and functional ability. - Matt (QBD)
