When Nilanthi goes missing, her parents in Sri Lanka ask Laura, a Sydney history teacher with memories of her own marriage to a Sri Lankan man, to help find their daughter. To find the woman, Laura has to travel a thousand kilometres across the state and fifty years back into her own tragic past.
