Some modern-day murderers don't commit their horrifying crimes alone. What motivates people who, in many cases, are extremely intelligent and apparently socially stable, to form a duo to kill for pleasure? 'Murder In Tandem' profiles a range of diverse but equally chilling crimes, from the abduction, torture, rape and murder of grazier's wife Virginia Gai Morse; the Birnie husband and wife team who killed teenage girls in Western Australia, to Australia's first known "thrill killing" of schoolgirl Rosalie Nolte; the Reid-Luckman Tweed Heads torture of a schoolboy; and Brisbane's notorious Whiskey-a-go-go fire bombing that killed fifteen people; and the controversial case of champion heavyweight boxer Dean Waters and his co-accused Damon Ashley Cooper.
These disturbing cases have one common element - each was committed by two killers who worked together to take the life of another human being. Perhaps the most frightening similarity between tandem murderers is their "ordinariness". They could be the people next door.
