In an unprecedented publishing move, the world's leading writers are coming together to publish the first chapters of their new work in a single volume entitled New Beginnings, to raise money for tsunami devastated countries. The book will be published by Bloomsbury in the US, UK, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Overseas proceeds will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee fund and money raised in Australia and New Zealand will go to Oxfam. Authors who have already agreed to take part are: Harlan Coben, Joanna Trollope, Alexander McCall Smith, Ian McEwan, Maeve Binchy, Margaret Atwood, Mark Haddon, Marian Keyes, Scott Turow, Nicholas Evans, Nick Hornby, Paulo Coelho, Stephen King, Tracey Chevalier, Vikram Seth and JM Coetzee (with further high profile authors to be announced.)
