Sloan Reynolds is a dedicated police woman in a small Florida town, the town where she grew up modestly with her divorced mother. Growing up, she never crossed paths with her father and sister who lived at wealthy socialites in glitzy Palm Beach.
Sloan secretly dreams of being reunited with her long lost family, but when an invitation to visit comes after her father's heart attack, she ignores the request until FBI agent Paul Richardson informs her that her father is being investigated for charges ranging from fraud to murder. Sloan reluctantly agrees to accept the family's invitation, posing as a dim-witted secretary, with Paul tagging along as her boyfriend.
