Octave Landuyt (Ghent, 1922), painter, engraver, sculptor, designer, stage set designer, jewels and tapestry, was given many awards for his plastic oeuvre and for his industrial designs. His works are part of numerous museum collections in Belgium and abroad. At the beginning of his career, Landuyt found his inspiration in fantasies and illusions, exceeding everyday reality. Later his works of art became strongly dominated by fantastic and tragic elements. Life and death as well as existential fear of making and central in his oeuvre, expressed in ever new forms which affect us to the depths of our being.
