A German painter and sculptor of Jewish origin, Otto Freundlich was widely known in the art circles of his day. He was on close terms with the leading artists of Expressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, Orphism, Dada, Suprematism, De Stijl, Bauhaus, Constructivism, the Cologne Progressives, and ultimately with the abstractionists.
