The Safety Centre of the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, in conjunction with Esso, ran a children's writing competition with the theme of "Safety". The winning stories were given to a professional writer to turn into picture book texts. The two other titles in this series are 'Waiting For Mum' and 'Beach Treasures'.
