Following his breathtaking debut with Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, Vaslav Nijinsky was acclaimed the God of Dance. Yet his success was shortlived. Nijinsky's fateful marriage a few years later to Romola de Pulszky effectively ended his balletic career as his spurned lover, Diaghilev, instantly fired him. His attempts to continue his artistic career failed and, his mind began to disintegrate. For six weeks in early 1919, Nijinsky wrote this agonizingly vivid diary in which he recorded his thoughts on God, sex, materialism and war as well as on his own broken life.This edition is the first complete version in English and is also the first in any language to include a fourth notebook which was written just as Nijinsky was becoming insane.
