On his death bed the Great Sun Chief learns a secret. In a village is a fifteen-summers-old girl who must be found and killed at all costs, as decreed by the Great Sun Chief. Young Cornsilk flees her village and is befriended by Poor Singer. Together they try to stay alive long enough to discover her true identity. But a desperate killer is stalking them, one who is willing to destroy the entire Anasazi world to get to her.
