Is there such a thing as a unique 'Zurich photography?' Is it possible that a special photographic viewpoint develops from a particular place? What differentiates and distinguishes it from other forms of contemporary photography, and how does it position itself internationally? Published on the occasion of the department of photography's 75th anniversary at the Hochschule fur Kunst und Gestaltung in Zurich, this book pursues the answers to these questions. It combines work from over forty students and graduates who have studied under André Gelpke, Ulrich Görlich and Cécile Wick since 1989. Essays by Martin Jaeggi and Thomas Weski explain for the first time the relationship between the unusual concept of intermediation, the unconventional atmosphere of learning, and the manifold activities of the program.
