Australian Children's Literature 1970 - 1990
The past two decades have seen tremendous developments in children's literature. The sheer number of children's books published in Australia and the demand for good books is part of the world recognition of the importance of quality children's literature. Teachers, librarians and academics, as much as the children themselves, have demanded that books be non-sexist, non-racist, non-discriminatory; and that they be relevant to today's world. Above all, they should be entertaining (or tell a good story) and bring joy into reading.
