This is a story of a woman disenchanted with her life and marriage who returns to her hometown in Alaska to confront the dangerous and violent spirits that have haunted her since the death of her five year old son. Jenna's trip to her ancestor's home in a small village is only the beginning of a journey which involves being pursued and terrorized by the creatures of the underworld. Helped by a young man who falls in love with her, Jenna also discovers that the Native American legends of her ancestors finally offer a path to healing her grief of her son's death.
